Post 13-Scabs

Hello everyone! On this blog I thought I would tell you guys about what a scab is. A scab is a dry, rough protective crust that forms over a cut or wound during healing. For example: You trip over a rock while playing with your friend. Your knee starts to bleed. Right away, you body is starting to form a scab over your cut or scratch that is bleeding. A scab is to make sure that no blood will come out of the cut or scratch anymore. Just make sure that you don't pick your scab. When you pick and peel your scab off your cut or scratch will then start bleeding. Your body will form another scab. If you keep picking your scab then your cut or scratch won't heal. If you leave the scab be and let it heal the wound will then go away and there will just be skin there again. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 12-Ear Infections

Hey everyone! Today I thought I would talk about ear infections. Ear infections should be brought to the doctor's attention when you first notice something wrong. One thing you should look for when you think you have a ear infection is too much ear wax. There are different kinds of ear infections. One is Middle Ear Infection. Middle ear infection is an infection that is in the air-filled space behind the eardrum. Another common type of ear infection is swimmer's ear. Swimmer's ear is an infection of the outer ear canal. When you first notice signs of an ear infection, go to a doctor, and soon (if you have an ear infection) you will get a prescribed a medicine that will treat your ear infection. Post 11-Anxiety

Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk about anxiety since most people people will experience it in their lives. Anxiety is where you could feel anxious when you have a problem, before taking a test, or before making an important decision. Anxiety causes panic/fear, sleep problems, cannot be still/calm, tingling hands and feet, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dry mouth, and nausea. You can have anxiety about almost anything honestly. I have anxiety about rough textures including clothes, blankets, and sometimes wood. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 10-Depression

What up guys! I thought I would talk about depression today because I think it's something that needs to be talked about, so there are less cases every year. Depression is a mental health disorder caused by loss of interest in activities and a depressed mood. Depression causes serious impairment in daily life. Depression is also very common. There are over 3 million cases of depression every single year. Depression has to be diagnosed by a doctor and you can be treated for it by a medical professional. Lab tests and imaging are rarely required. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 9-Headaches

Hey guys! Have any of you ever gotten a headache before. I know I have. They're not fun. Headaches are sharp pains located inside your brain. Sometimes the pounding force will transfer from one part of your brain to another or just stay in the same place for a period of time. There are different types of headaches: Cluster Headache, Migraine, Migraine with Aura, and Tension Headache. These are painful and taking aspirin and tylonel will only do so much. It all comes down to having rest. Try not moving your head so much, as the headache will then only continue. Staring at a screen won't help either. Try going to sleep or taking a little nap. By following those steps, your headache should be gone within an hour or two. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 8-Food Poisoning

Hey guys! So today I thought I would talk a little bit about food poisoning. I think food poisoning is very important because certain viruses or parasytes could possibly contaminate the food that you buy and then make you sick. In more extreme cases, death is a possibility. When you have food poisoning, throwing up is usually the main symptom. Most people may not think this, but throwing up is actually very healthy for you because it will get that contaminated food out of your body and out of your system. Bacteria and infected organisms can also cause food poisoning. Other symtoms of food poisoning are nausea and diarrhea. Most food poisoning cases can be self treated, but sometimes people have to go to the doctor for it. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 7-FLU

Yes. I know. I have already done a post about the flu, but the flu is still going around and I want to tell you how to prevent it from invading your living space. Honestly, I shouldn't even have to tell you this step, but WASH YOUR HANDS! Washing your hands is one of the best things you could ever do when the flu is going around. Those 20 seconds of your hand's glory could even save your lives in some cases. Always wash your hands after going to the bathroom and whenever you sneeze. One word: SIMPLE. You could also get a flu shot, but... That hurts. So make sure that you wash your hands, and with a parent's permission, get a flu shot. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 6-Important or Not Important?: Broken Finger

Hey everyone! I'm starting a new segment on this blog. The segment is called "Important or Not Important." Just guess and think if you think a broken finger is important or not. 3, 2, 1... BEEP! A broken finger is very important. Let's say you break your finger while playing basketball. If you don't go to someone about it, then the bone won't grow back right. It'll start to hurt after a while, so you need to go to a doctor. The doctor will break your finger again and then put a cast on it so the bone will grow back right. Other bones though, like an arm or leg, can't grow back on its own. It needs a cast. So breaking a finger is very important. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 5-Phobias

Hey guys! I'm running out of ideas to write about so I decided I would tell you about phobias. A phobia is your fear of something. Let's say you're afraid of spiders. Then you have arachnophobia. That super long word means your afraid of spiders. If you're afraid of small spaces, then your claustrophobic. The word means you're afraid of small spaces. There are lots and lots of types of phobias. Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Post 3-Birth Defects

Since it is January and January is Birth Defect Prevention Month, I thought I would talk a little bit about what a birth defect is. So a birth defect is a physical or biochemical that is abnormally present at birth. Some may be caused by environmental influence. For example Smoking. With smoke in the air people will breathe it in and then that can cause birth defects. 1 and 33 babies born in the United States are unfortunately born with a birth defect. Some birth defects are: appearance, organ function, and physical and mental development. So stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Illnesses: Post 2-Flu (Influenza)

Unfortunately, the flu is going around again. I haven't had the flu yet, but it's been going around in my family for the past couple days and I know this is going to sound bad, but I really don't want to be around my family. Some of the symptoms of the flu are a headache, fever, and body ache. Make sure to wear your winter clothing outside because the flu is going around! Stay healthy and stay in "The Doctor's Office."

Illnesses: Post 1-Strep Throat

So, unfortunately, a bad illness is going around. It's called strep throat. I had it over the weekend. It's not fun. Some symptoms include fever, sore throat, dry throat, and achy body.  Strep Throat is very contagious. When checking for strep throat, you can look for the symptoms, but strep throat requires a doctor's diagnosis, so don't say you have strep throat if you don't have a doctor's diagnosis.
